Dotty, our nurse and staff in Nairobi, has successfully completed the TULISA financed graduate course in social-medical counseling.
After this training course, she can work more efficiently and more successfully in health education, particularly on HIV / AIDS, within the Kibera slum in Nairobi.
Important focus here is to identify the vulnerable population, in particular affected mothers and adolescents, concerning path of infection, duration of infectiousness, diagnosis + therapy and of course, effective protection and prevention measures against infection. Non-infected persons need to know the risks of infection in order to avoid or protect themselves accordingly. HIV-infected persons should be informed of how to behave in order to avoid passing the infection and to implement this knowledge in a customized approach (cf. www.rki.de).
TULISA hopes that this approach contributes to health-improvement and reduction of infection rate in the poverty stricken people of Kibera.
TULISA and Dotty thank all donors who have made this sustainable development possible!
